MCE is a a not
for profit company based in Shropshire, England, aiming to support
social and community enterprises and co-operative organisations
and develop the potential for new enterprises. Membership is open
to anyone who has an interest in the development of the social enterprise
and co-operative sector.
We
believe that enterprising people within rural communities understand
the needs of those comminites and how to meet them. Supporting
home-grown enterpreneurial spirit and user-led enterprise models,
and growing ideas into viable enterprise hold many of the solutions
to rural decline.
Rural
enterprise rooted in the communty can contribute more to rural
regeneration than inward investment from big business, by:
Promoting activity which is of community benefit
Helping to develop sustainable communities
Promoting creativity and new thinking to solve local problems
Working in an inclusive and accessible way
Promoting partnership working
Promoting geographically coherent development that works
for the rural Marches area
